Impact of LUM Programs – So Far This Year
2020 Third Quarter Program Statistics
Fall is a good time to reflect on the tremendous positive impact that LUM has had on individuals, families, and children in our community. Lafayette Urban Ministry has nurtured and educated children, sheltered families, fed the hungry, supported the legal immigrant, and helped our neighbors experiencing homelessness become more self-sufficient — all through the faithful work carried on every day and night by LUM. So far this year, 2,238 different individuals and low-income households have been served by LUM. Here is a better snapshot of LUM’s impact in the first nine months of 2020:
- 1,302 Visits to Good Samaritan Program for housing, utility and health-care requests
- $165,191 – Amount of Good Samaritan Fund disbursed
- 1,519 Visits to the LUM Protein Food Pantry
- 139 Immigration Clinic cases
- 111 ID Clinic cases
- 6,072 Overnight stays at the Emergency Shelter
- 555 Overnight stays at the Winter Warming Station (January-March)
- 517 – Individuals served at the Emergency Shelter
- 258 provided free Tax Assistance
- 7 Emergency Shelter guests provided housing through the LUM New Opportunity Fund
- 163 Total Children served: LUM Camp (40), After School Program (78), and 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program (45)
- Jubilee Christmas: {TBD} Families and {TBD} children served (In 2019: 648 families & 1,765 children were served)
- Community Thanksgiving Feast: {TBD} meals served (In 2019: 900 meals were served)
