The LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program is dedicated to closing the academic achievement gap for students who are struggling, and providing enrichment for students who are doing well. 5th Quarter is available to elementary aged children (pre-kindergarten through 6th grade).

The LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program is offered Monday – Friday during summer recess from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 5th Quarter is supervised by the LUM Youth Program Director and five other trained personnel. LUM also relies on the generosity of its many screened volunteers.

Donate “Needed Items” to the LUM Youth Programs

Donate snacks and supplies. The LUM Youth Programs Wishlist (After School Program, 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program, LUM Camp) is as follows:

  • Snacks (healthy, low/no sugar)
    • Drinks — 100% Fruit Juice, Bottled water, Milk
    • Healthy Snacks — Fresh fruit, Carrots (snack size), Yogurt cups, Applesauce cups, Fruit cups, Pudding cups, Gelatin cups (Jello)
    • Pre-packaged Crackers (sandwich crackers, Goldfish, etc)
    • Snack Bars — Granola Bars, Fruit Bars, Breakfast Bars, Cereal Bars, Rice Krispie Treats
  • Paper Supplies — Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Paper napkins, Facial Tissues (Kleenex), Paper plates, Disposable or paper cups (8 oz.), Ziplock bags, Food Service disposable gloves
  • Personal Care — Liquid Hand Soap, Disinfecting Wipes (Clorox ), Hand Sanitizer 
  • Cleaning Supplies — Bleach, Disinfectant Spray (Lysol), Liquid dish detergent, Trash bags (13 gallon/tall kitchen draw-string), Trash bags (39 gallon or larger)
  • Medical Supplies — Vinyl Gloves, Band aids, Medical tape, Neosporin
  • Office Supplies — Masking Tape, Scotch tape, Thermal Laminating Pouches, Borders for Bulletin Board
  • School and Art Supplies:
    • Books – reading grade level from 1st grade to 8th grade (no picture books, please)
    • Dry Erase Markers, Colored Pencils-12 pack, Crayons-24 pack, Washable Markers-10 pack
    • Hot glue stick refills, Perler Beads (melting beads)
    • Notebooks, Copy Paper, Construction Paper
    • Glue sticks, Blunt child scissors, Supply pouches or boxes
    • Watercolors, Washable tempera paint, 5×7 or 8×10 canvas
    • Plastic Storage Containers with Lids, 18-20 quart & 10-12 quart
  • Outdoor Play — Soccer balls, Kick balls, Nerf footballs, Sidewalk Chalk, Bug Catchers, Hula Hoops
  • Indoor Play — Floor Puzzles, Magnetic blocks, Lego sets, Lego base plates, Dominos (regular with dots)
