Meet Karlie – LUM Fall Intern
Karlie Saunders grew up in Lebanon, Indiana, with her mother and two brothers. She currently lives in West Lafayette, where she is a senior at Purdue University majoring in Human Services with a minor in Business Management.
“I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s mission to serve the community and help those in need. Secondly, I see this experience as an opportunity to cultivate a heart posture of generosity, empathy, and compassion, which are essential qualities not only as someone who aspires to work in the non-profit sector, but also as an individual as well. Lastly, being part of LUM allows me to collaborate with dedicated individuals who share a common goal of improving our community, and that this collective effort will enrich my internship experience as well as shape my future endeavors in a meaningful way.”
Karlie is an active member of Purdue Christian Campus House and also am a member of Boilers Against Trafficking Club at Purdue. When she graduates in December, Karlie plans on working as a nonprofit administrator at an aftercare center for individuals who have been survivors of trafficking. She is also planning a wedding with her best friend and fiancé, Ben. He is also a Purdue student majoring in Construction Management. In her free time, Karlie enjoys spending quality time with her friends at Purdue, attending Purdue football and basketball games, going on roadtrips, playing pickleball, and watching movies.
LUM is fortunate to have someone with Karlie’s work ethic, passion and energy working as an intern this fall semester.
