Summer of Service – Youth Program Needs
Volunteers Needed – LUM Camp & 5th Quarter
Volunteer opportunities with LUM Youth Programs this summer range from assisting students one-on-one any weekday to serving as a counselor at LUM Camp. Be an important person in the lives of children through the LUM Summer of Service. All they need is a willing heart and a helping hand. Below are two exciting opportunities to serve with local children.
LUM Camp is a weeklong overnight camp for boys and girls, ages 8, 9, and 10, from families served by Lafayette Urban Ministry. Scores of local children will jump on a bus and head to Hanging Rock Camp from July 27 to 30. LUM Camp includes nature hikes, arts and crafts, boating, swimming, morning chapel, wall-climbing, zip-lining, delicious meals, and caring staff and counselors.
LUM Camp—Counselors
Volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. on Monday, July 26 to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 30. With two other staff, volunteers oversee a small group of children during a four-day, overnight camp and support them with all camp activities. Training is provided. More.
5th Quarter Summer Learning Program (summer child care) welcomes students all summer-long, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The program includes math challenges, regular reading, experiential science labs, meals & snacks as well as recreation and fun. When the school year begins in the Fall, our students will be better prepared academically.
Child Care—Teacher’s Aides
Volunteers are needed each weekday (Monday-Friday) from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. to help children with math, reading, arts & crafts and recreation; prepare and serve snack and lunch; and supervise study trips. Training is provided. More.
