Summer of Service – Volunteer Opportunities
Something For Every Schedule & Skill Level
Serving at LUM ranges from assisting a client one-on-one to preparing a meal. There are opportunities that fit every schedule, from regular long-term commitments to one time jobs, and weekday, weekend, afternoon or overnight. Some require training, but most just a willing heart and a helping hand. Below is a list of several exciting opportunities to serve at LUM starting this month.
LUM Camp—Counselors
Needed from 11 a.m. on Monday, July 26 to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 30. With two other staff, oversee a group of ten children during a four-day, overnight camp. Support each child with structured activities. Training is provided. More.
Shelter—Overnight Volunteers
Needed each evening from 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. or 8 p.m. – midnight. Check-in guests, serve meals and distribute bedding & shower items. Training is provided. More.
Shelter—Provide Meals
A simple meal for 44 shelter guests is needed each evening at 8 p.m. Planning and preparing a meal is a great activity for groups. You may stay and serve the meal or drop it off in advance. More.
Child Care—Teacher’s Aides
Needed each weekday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Help children with math, reading, arts & crafts and recreation; prepare and serve snack and lunch, and supervise study trips. Training provided. More.
Food Pantries
Needed Thursdays & Fridays from 7 a.m. – noon. Check-in clients, enter data, pick up food, assist clients in shopping & organize pantry. More.
Afternoon Receptionist
Needed each weekday afternoon from noon to 4:30 p.m. It’s a recurring, daytime service opportunity, typically one afternoon every two weeks. Greet guests, answer phones & complete general clerical duties. Training provided. More.
