Join Us for the LUM Summer of Service




As you enjoy the holiday and soak up the summer sun, remember that the local unhoused community needs your help! Join us for the LUM Summer of Services and spice up your summer by preparing and serving meals. Whether it’s whipping up shelter meals, crafting daytime to-go sack lunches, packing summer snacks for the youth, or stocking up our food pantry, LUM has plenty of ways for you to get involved and make a difference.

Needed each evening from 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. -or- 8 p.m. – midnight. Check-in guests, serve meals and distribute bedding & shower items. Training is provided. Learn More.


A simple meal for 48 shelter guests is needed each evening at 8 p.m. Planning and preparing a meal is a great activity for groups. You may stay and serve the meal or drop it off in advance. Learn more.


Volunteers are needed Monday afternoons (Noon to 4 p.m.) & Thursday mornings (9 a.m. – noon) in downtown Lafayette. Check-in clients, enter data, pick up food, assist clients in shopping & organize the pantry. Learn more.

Needed each weekday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Help children with math, reading, arts & crafts and recreation; prepare and serve snack and lunch, and supervise study trips. Training provided. Learn more.


LUM offers simple To-Go Meals all yearlong in the LUM Office during regular hours (M-F, 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). It is a great activity for families, youth groups, churches, groups, classrooms, and businesses. Learn more.


Needed weekday mornings & evening and Saturdays. Pick up surplus food at local bakeries & coffeeshops and delivery them to LUM. Also, LUM is looking for an individual to coordinate the program. Learn more.
