One Week to Help LUM Thanksgiving Events

LUM Community Thanksgiving Feast

Event Info | Donate Food | Donate $ | Volunteer | Sponsor

On Thanksgiving day, Lafayette Urban Ministry will host the Community Thanksgiving Feast at noon at Central Presbyterian Church. At the first LUM Thanksgiving event 34 years ago, 75 people attended. This year, LUM will distribute more than 800 meals including over 75 turkeys and 112 pies. The fixin’s will include stuffing (dressing), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce & gravy. Everyone is welcome, no reservations are necessary, and it’s FREE.

Due to COVID-19, the meal will be the same but everything else will be different. Here are some of the modifications for 2020:

  • To-Go meals only, distributed curbside with no contact
  • Guests must not attend if sick, must line up outside on markers, six feet apart with a mask on, and must allow their temperature to be checked and recorded and sign a waiver
  • Volunteers will be limited to the minimal number needed, must be at least 18 years old, will be screened and must follow strict health & safety protocols

Won’t you consider a donation to support this important holiday tradition?

Cash and food donations are still being accepted. Donate online at lumserve.org. For more information, go to lumserve.org/thanksgiving.
