That idea goes beyond the classroom. It shows up in experiences, relationships, and opportunities that help shape a child’s confidence, direction, and sense of what is possible. Each summer, LUM Youth Programs create these important moments:
- A child starts to see they can do well in school
- A camper tries something new and begins to believe in themselves
- A father spends meaningful time with his children, building a stronger bond
These are more than just programs—they are turning points. They help kids feel more confident when they once felt unsure, bring people closer when they felt apart, and create new experiences where there used to be barriers. Each moment may seem small on its own, but together they add up to something strong and lasting that reaches far beyond a single summer.
5th Quarter – Advancing Education Stability
The LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program supports the LUM Mission by addressing gaps in education and helping students succeed over time. It offers academic support helping reduce summer learning loss. LUM administers both a pre-test and a post-test to measure student learning and reinforce a commitment that students not only maintain but gain academic knowledge over the summer months.
Each day combines learning with enrichment with nutritious meals, recreation, and educational field trips. Students are provided a safe, supportive setting where they can continue to grow academically, socially, and personally.
LUM Day for Dads — Building Stronger Families
LUM Day for Dads reflects the LUM Mission by creating fun memories while strengthening families and affirming the role of fathers. It creates opportunities for connection, recognition, and shared memories.
Local families are treated to a baseball game, commemorative T-shirt, and ballpark meal on Sunday, June 7, at Loeb Stadium featuring the Lafayette Aviators. This sporting event offers families a simple but powerful opportunity to spend time together and be celebrated.
LUM Camp – Building Confidence & Opportunity
At its core, LUM Camp gives children the opportunity to grow, explore, and believe in themselves — often in ways they have never experienced before. It reflects the LUM Mission by expanding access to experiences that build confidence, independence, and a sense of possibility.
This year, camp takes place July 27–31 at Jameson Camp. While costs have increased, the commitment remains the same — every child deserves a high-quality, life-changing experience.
