Point-in-Time Count Day is Coming

This Thursday, January 29, communities across the country will take part in the annual Point-in-Time Count. This count helps us understand how many people are experiencing homelessness on one winter night (Wednesday, Jan. 28). For service providers like LUM, the PIT Count helps guide programs, funding, and services.

Counting guests staying in the LUM Emergency Shelter Winter Warming Station is simple. The harder part is counting people who are unsheltered—those sleeping in cars, encampments, or other places not designed for people to live. Volunteers ask questions like, “Where did you sleep last night?” to make sure everyone is seen and counted.

The PIT Count is about more than numbers. It’s about dignity, visibility, and caring for our neighbors. Click the button below to learn more about volunteering.
