8 Ways to Celebrate Hunger Action Month
Think Globally – Act Locally – End Hunger Today
It’s a nationwide call to fight food insecurity, and right here in Greater Lafayette, LUM Food Programs including the Protein Food Pantry needs your help this fall & winter.

Here are 8 Ways You Can Stand Against Hunger
- WEAR ORANGE – Celebrate Hunger Action Month and raise awareness by wearing orange throughout September.
- FOOD RESCUE – Help recover surplus food from local groceries, restaurants & bakeries – and stock the food pantry shelves. RESCUE food, SHARE food, REDUCE waste.
- GIVING GARDENERS – Share your garden harvest or grow a row for LUM families.
- HUNGER HIKE – Form a team, support a team or hiker, or donate. For more information or click HERE.
- HOST A DRIVE – Rally your church, workplace, or special events to collect pantry items. Check the LUM Wish List and keep it simple.
- NEEDED ITEMS – Families urgently need dish soap, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, infant care, and hygiene items. Check out the LUM Wish List. Drop off or ship from the Amazon.com Wish List.
- VOLUNTEER – Serve shoppers at the LUM Protein Food Pantry on Mondays & Thursdays.
- DONATIONS – Monetary donations are ideal. Every dollar goes where it’s needed most.
The need is urgent. The time is now. Stand up. Step in. Stand against hunger.
