Spotlight on Food Pantry Volunteer Directors
LUM Superstars – Nina Morgan & Kirk Germond
NINA Morgan’s dedication to the LUM Protein Food Pantry is truly inspiring. With a background in Home Economics Education from Purdue University and 36 years in food service management at Franciscan Health, she brings a wealth of experience into her volunteer work. Her commitment to the LUM Protein Food Pantry, where Nina has been the volunteer director since its inception, showcases her reliability and leadership. She also serves on the LUM Board of Directors and volunteers as an afternoon receptionist, kitchen captain at Community Thanksgiving Feast and with Jubilee Christmas. Nina’s work in the food pantry allows her to make a positive impact on those struggling with food insecurity, health issues, and loss of income and home. Her dedication to the LUM mission and her support of the community reflect Nina’s deeply held values and tireless spirit.
KIRK Germond, recently honored as the LUM Volunteer of the Month for June 2024, has made significant contributions since he began volunteering in February 2022. His commitment to the LUM Protein Food Pantry, where he manages the newly added Monday hours, showcases his dependability and ingenuity. At LUM, Kirk’s involvement extends beyond the food pantry to serving evening meals at the Emergency Shelter and participating in events like the Community Thanksgiving Feast and Jubilee Christmas. He finds immense pride in impacting the lives of those in need in our community and encourages others to explore the diverse volunteer opportunities at LUM. With a background in building construction and contracting and a long career with the State of Indiana, Kirk brings a unique perspective and valuable skills to his role at LUM, making a lasting difference in the community.
