LUM Food Programs Need a Summer Boost
Here are Eight Ways to Get Engaged & Invest
Each one of our neighbors deserves access to healthy, nutritious food, regardless of their circumstances. That’s why LUM is so grateful for so many of you who are willing to help. Here are six ways you can make a difference today:
- DONATE – Monetary donations are ideal because funds are available for food, supplies, and equipment.
- VOLUNTEER – Volunteers are needed Mondays (Noon to 4 p.m.) & Thursdays (9 a.m. – noon) in Lafayette. Assist shoppers, pick up food & organize the pantry. Learn more.
- GIVING GARDENERS – LUM welcomes donations from Giving Gardeners who have “grown a row” for LUM or simply wish to donate from their garden. Learn more.
- FOOD RESCUE – LUM needs volunteers to “rescue” food from local restaurants, bakeries & stores. Sign up to pick up food donations from Target, Panera, Great Harvest, Fresh Thyme & Starbucks. Learn more.
- TO-GO MEALS – Simple To-Go Meals are needed for distribution each weekday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Preparing to-go meals is a great activity for families, churches, groups, classrooms, and businesses. Learn more.
- NEEDED ITEMS – Families need paper products, cleaning supplies, infant products and personal hygiene items. Drop off needed items or shop online and ship them. Go to Amazon.com, shop from the LUM Wish List, order & ship to LUM. Learn more.
- HOST A DRIVE – Coordinate a “drive” for the LUM Food Pantry at your church, organization or business — or at your next event like a birthday or company social. Check the LUM Wish List and keep it simple. Learn more.
- HUNGER HIKE – Participate in Hunger Hike on Sunday, September 22 and raise funds for food programs locally, regionally & globally. Learn more.
Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. Thank you for your support! If you have questions or need further information, go to lumserve.org/food-pantry, call 765-423-2691 or email foodpantry@lumserve.org.
