Meet Mackenzie – LUM Spring Intern
Mackenzie O. Mykleby grew up in Arlington, IL, with her parents, her younger brother, and the “most adorable” black lab named Briggs. She currently lives in West Lafayette, where she is in her second year at Purdue University, majoring in Economics & Political Science with a minor in Spanish. When she graduates in May 2026, Mackenzie plans on pursuing a law degree.
This spring, Mackenzie is an intern with the LUM Immigration Clinic. When reflecting on her internship goals, Mackenzie stated that,
I hope to learn about the process of immigrating to the United States. I am also looking forward to working with clients from different backgrounds and cultures.
At Purdue, Mackenzie is the Ambassador Chair with the Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement Student Community and Dean’s Ambassador for the College of Liberal Arts. Mackenzie encourages others to volunteer or pursue an internship with LUM, stating that,
So far, I’ve had a great time meeting with clients and helping them find solutions to the issues that they come to us with. I take a lot of pride in volunteering for LUM because the organization provides support and resources for the local community in many ways.
In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys hanging out with her friends, trying new types of food, exploring Tippecanoe County, and watching movies.
LUM is fortunate to have someone with Mackenzie’s, passion, experience, and work ethic working as an intern this semester.
