Duo Reunites for the LUM 50th Celebration


Friday, April 8 | 7 p.m. | Long Center | $50

A special singing duo is confirmed to perform at the LUM 50th Anniversary Celebration — Onyx Uzomah & Derrick Willams-Bacon. Onyx and Derrick have reunited to perform just for you at the LUM 50th Anniversary Celebration. They will sing Wake Up Everybody (Whitehead/McFadden/Carstarphen) accompanied by Jeff Goodspeed on the piano and Larry Guentert on the drums.

Onyx & Derrick began performing together in 2008 through Purdue Musical Organizations. During her time as a Purdue student, Onyx was a member of Heart & Soul vocal ensemble, and Derrick was the group’s director. In addition to their singing, Onyx is an academic advisor in the Purdue Honors College and Derrick is the Purdue Engineering K12 & Undergraduate program administrator. Derrick is also a member of the LUM Board of Directors representing Second Baptist Church.

Onyx & Derrick are a part of the program that also includes performances from the LUM Ecumenical Choir (directed by Eileen Weiss), LUM Children’s Chorus, Linda Hicks and friends, and Briton Weise as well as accompaniment by Larry Guentert, Jim Brehm, Sharon McKnight, Sam Cody, Hunt Wiley, and Jeff Goodspeed.

Join us for the LUM 50th Anniversary Celebration, hear the LUM Ecumenical Choir performance live, and help us honor the legacy of Lafayette Urban Ministry. The event is a lighthearted evening with uplifting stories, live entertainment, refreshments & good company — with a few surprises. Because you have been a part of the success and endurance of LUM, we would love to see you there. The celebration begins at 7 p.m., but be sure to show up at 6 p.m. for the social hour with refreshments and and meet the former LUM executive directors, Jud Dolphin and Mary Anderson.
