Meet A Muslim – After School Program
This week at the LUM After School Program, the elementary school aged students were visited by two special guests — Enosh Kazem & Nadia Farooqi. Enosh & Nadia led a discussion they entitled “Meet a Muslim.”
Enosh & Nadia have been married for close to three years. He is from West Lafayette and attended West Lafayette High School. She is from Dallas, Texas. Enosh is currently working on an advanced degree in food science at Purdue University, and Nadia is an undergraduate at Ivy Tech Community College. Enosh is the Outreach Director for the Muslim Student Association at Purdue, and has been presenting all over the community for seven years.
Their goal is simple: “to reduce the fear and dispel the myths about Islam and Muslims.” The LUM After School Program students were curious, candid, and respectful. The conversation and questions were insightful, thoughtful — and at times whimsical and touching. The students learned a lot and now have “met a Muslim.”
Thanks to Enosh & Nadia for working with the LUM students.
