Meet the LUM Thanksgiving Director


Cheryl Fowler— Community Thanksgiving Celebration, program director


2015-10-01 Fowler_Cheryl 002 (2) (1280x1277)Cheryl is originally from Cincinnati where she met her husband Gary. They moved to Indianapolis in the mid-1980’s. Cheryl has lived in West Lafayette with Gary for 16 years and is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church (West Lafayette). Cheryl graduated from Miami University (Oxford, OH) with a BS in Business/Marketing.

Cheryl and Gary, who recently celebrated their 30th anniversary, have one daughter, Claire (22), who graduated this past May from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) and married in July. Cheryl has served as a LUM board member since 2013, and has been on the Hunger Hike Fundraising Committee since 2014. Cheryl is the local coordinator for International Experience, a non-profit, high school student international exchange program. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family & friends—and loves tap dancing.

LUM is thrilled to have Cheryl join the team as the new program director for the 2015 LUM 29th Annual Community Thanksgiving Celebration.

The LUM Community Thanksgiving Celebration will serve over 900 guests on Thanksgiving thanksgiving child 2014Day. Details are as follows:

  • Thursday, November 26
  • Noon to 2 p.m.Central Presbyterian Church, Lafayette
  • FREE and open to the entire community

The FREE meal includes a traditional Thanksgiving feast with turkey, dressing/stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and a variety of pies. Donations and volunteers are needed to make it a success.

Your gift of $50, $100, $250, $500, or more, will help to defray the $9,000 expense for the meal. Click “make a donation” below.
