Do the ‘Survival Shuffle’ for LUM Camp 2024

Join us for the Survival Shuffle to benefit LUM Camp. This special event, sponsored by the Jaques family, honors the memory of Tom Jaques, who served as the LUM facilities manager from 1997 to 2011 (pictured). Tom was passionate about the enthusiasm surrounding LUM Camp. After his passing from cancer in 2020, his family decided to run a 10K on Father’s Day to feel connected during the isolating period of the COVID-19 pandemic. The name “Survival Shuffle” is a tribute to a term Tom coined to describe his distinctive jogging style.

  • In the week leading up to Father’s Day (June 10-16, 2024), choose your way to complete a 10K — run, jog, swim, bike, row, crawl, or dance, breaking it up into increments that work for you. Alternatively, you can spend two hours during the week quilting, knitting, crafting, gardening, or enjoying your favorite hobby.
  • As you engage in your chosen activity, reflect on the joy of a child attending LUM Camp and take a moment to remember a loved one.
  • Once you’ve completed your Survival Shuffle, consider making a donation to LUM to help send a child to camp. Any amount will be gratefully accepted.

LUM looks forward to hearing from you as we all celebrate Tom’s legacy and support LUM Camp.

Your contribution will help pay for a child’s transportation, room and board, food, camp activities, educational programs, and supplies. Sponsor one LUM camper for $300; two for $600, or $150 for ½ sponsorship. Any amount will support LUM Youth Programs & LUM Camp.
