Reception Honored 40 Years of Food Pantries

LUM Providing Food Assistance for 40+ Years

Last Thursday, LUM celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Food Pantries & Food Assistance with a reception at the LUM Protein Food Pantry. The reception was a wonderful tribute recognizing the impact that LUM has had in our community giving food assistance to our neighbors in need continuously for more than 40 years. Wes Tillett, LUM executive director, hosted the reception and welcomed the LUM food pantry participants, LUM volunteers and community leaders. Remarks were offered by Wes, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, Food Finders Food Bank CEO & President Kier Crites Muller. Wes also introduced the LUM volunteer of the month, Rob Morgan, who is a longtime volunteer at the LUM Protein Food Pantry and other programs. Joe Micon, LUM executive director emeritus, attended and was recognized for his major contribution to the LUM food pantries, food assistance, and Hunger Hike since the beginning and over the many years. Guests were treated to a continental breakfast buffet which included lots of fresh fruit, breakfast snacks, water, and fresh coffee.
