LUM Camp 2023 Theme is . . . M U S I C !

Life Changing Experience for 80 Local Children

In less than a month, LUM Camp will be in full swing with more than 80 local children experiencing the best week of the summer. The theme of LUM Camp 2023 is “Music!“ and the program will focus on all aspects of music.

Marlena Edmondson, LUM Camp director, shared that, “We’re scheduling performances from different genres of music and dancing — including the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra who let the kids play around on violins.” There will also be a music teacher at LUM Camp who will break down the history of music and different ways music is made and heard. The campers will be making their own musical instruments during craft time and using musical instruments during the traditional sing-a-long of camp songs. There will also be a screening of a movie musical. LUM Camp will also include nature hikes, arts and crafts, boating, swimming, morning campfires, wall climbing, zip-lining, the giant swing, snacks, delicious meals, and diverse and caring counselors.

LUM Camp still needs donations to send children to camp, volunteer camp counselors (especially men), and eligible campers. LUM Camp is a scholarship-based camp, meaning LUM only invites children whose parents are not able to pay for the actual cost of camp, which is more than $300 per camper.
