Six Simple & Unique Ways to Give to LUM

LUM relies on donations from individuals like you. Unrestricted cash donations to LUM are ideal because it gives LUM the ability to use the money where it is needed the most. But many people are looking for a more unique way to give. Here are six simple examples of how YOU can give to LUM in addition to a monetary gift.

STOCKS  – Giving stocks is getting more popular and LUM makes it easy. Check out our webpage for giving stock to LUM and see if it fits your plan. Learn more.

NEEDED ITEMS  – One way that LUM keeps it’s expenditures down is by asking for donations of “needed items” from the LUM Wish List. You may even purchase the needed items online and have them shipped. Plus, if you use Amazon Smile, LUM gets a percentage of your purchase (see next bullet). Learn more.

SHOP ONLINE – There are select e-commerce sites that will donate on behalf of your purchase. The most common is Amazon Smile. Go to smile.amazon.com, select “Lafayette Urban Ministry,” and LUM will get 0.5% of your eligible purchase.

LAST WILL & TESTAMENT  – Create a legacy by naming LUM in your will. Learn more.

HOST A DRIVE  – Coordinate a “drive” at your church, organization or business — or at your next event, like a birthday party or business meeting/social. Check the LUM Wish List and keep it simple. For example, sponsor a Toilet Paper Drive or ask your guests to bring items needed for the shelter (razors, deodorant, shaving cream, coffee) or for the food pantries (dish soap, canned fish, canned meat, deodorant, diapers, feminine products).

FACEBOOK FUNDRAISER  – Launch a fundraiser on your Facebook site and select “Lafayette Urban Ministry” as the recipient. Combine it to a celebration like your birthday, an observance like Martin Luther King Day of Service, or a holiday like Valentine’s Day. Learn more.
