Gayle Koning is a new addition to the Business Office at Lafayette Urban Ministry serving as the assistant business manager. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Gayle now lives in Lafayette with her husband, Fred — the traffic foreman for the City of Lafayette. Gayle has three children — Brandon Knechtel, a music producer in Clearmont, Florida; Barry Knechtel, an architect in West Lafayette at KJG Architecture; and Brice Koning, a business teacher at West Lafayette High School. She also has eight grandchildren — Jessi (19), Xander (17), Eliot (16), Kieron (15), Daelen (13), Kira (12), Ali (9) & Oliver (5).
Gayle is excited about her new role with LUM because she loves working with numbers and balancing accounts. She comes to LUM with a wide variety of experiences ranging from working with the Lafayette City Engineer’s and City Clerk’s offices to managing hotels and chiropractic offices. Gayle and her family are parishioners of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Lafayette, where she and Fred are members of the adult choir. She and Fred also are currently hosting two Jefferson High School exchange students — Pinja (17) from Finland and Katrin (16) from Germany.
In a short time, Gayle has already made a positive impact on the business operations at LUM. She shared that she truly believes that “God led me to LUM.” Joe Micon, LUM executive director, stated that “we are fortunate to have someone with Gayle’s talents and experience assisting our agency with the management of our general business, accounts and finances. She is a wonderful addition to the team.” Please join us in welcoming Gayle to the staff at Lafayette Urban Ministry.
