Remembering Sally Ruth Mak – Mother, Wife, Teacher, Servant
This week Lafayette Urban Ministry lost a wonderful friend and staff member of our ministry —Sally Mak.
Sally Ruth Mak died at her residence on September 9, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
Sally worked for Lafayette Urban Ministry from January 2012 to April 2016. Joe Micon, LUM executive director, shared that…
“Sally was a tremendously special woman and her passing leaves such a huge hole in our hearts. She endured her long illness with grace and dignity. In the process, Sally taught us much about how to faithfully live our own lives. The entire LUM family sends its prayers and warm hugs to Ron and the children.”
Sally was born in Demotte, IN on September 3, 1959 to Ruth Meyers Mak and the late Charles Mak. She received her Bachelors Degree in Developmental Child Psychology and her Master’s in Elementary Education from Purdue University. She spent most of her life teaching, loving children, and faithfully serving the Lord by loving and encouraging everyone she met.
On May 14, 1983 she married Ron Hoffman in Demotte, IN. Surviving with her husband, Ron are her four children, Sara (husband, Travis) Bannon, Hayley, Aaron, and Evan Mak Hoffman.
Praise be to God for her beautiful life and service.
