Summer’s Over for 5th Quarter
A Focus on the Students in the LUM 5th Quarter Program
Summer 2015
As the school year begins, the teachers with the LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program are confident that our students are better prepared than their peers to succeed. During this ten week summer program, the trained staff create an academically stimulating environment for our students to learn during the summer months —
which includes active learning, educational enrichment activities and study trips.
During their final week of 5th Quarter last week, the students’ schedule was filled with special trips and events. They swam in the Vinton pool, picked up their free book at Barnes & Noble Bookstore for participating in their Summer Reading program, enjoyed a guided educational tour of the Soilmaker facility (pictured above), and had some fun with the Covenant Church Youth Group at Columbian Park. Each 5th Quarter student also took a post-test during the final week.
The results of the post-test will soon be compared to their pre-test scores and a control group to help measure our success and guide our curriculum decisions in the future.
