Purdue Crew Raises $14,457.26 for LUM

At a special event on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 3:15 p.m. at the Purdue Boathouse (500 Brown Street, West Lafayette, Indiana), representatives from the Purdue Crew Team presented Lafayette Urban Ministry with a check for $14,457.26 for the LUM Good Samaritan Fund. The monies were raised by the members of the Purdue Crew Team through the annual Purdue Row-a-Thon event which took place on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Tippecanoe Mall (Lafayette, Indiana).
The Check Presentation event was hosted by David Kucik, Purdue Crew Team Head Coach, and remarks were given by several 
dignitaries as follows:
- John Dennis, Mayor of West Lafayette
- Tony Roswarski, Mayor of Lafayette
- Howard Taylor, Director of Recreational Sports, Purdue University
The check was presented by John Reidy, the Purdue Crew Club president, to Joe Micon, Executive Director of LUM, and Eileen Weiss, LUM Business Manager.

Purdue Row-A-Thon 2013 — January 19, 2013

Each January, the Purdue Rowing Team sponsors “Row-a-thon” in support of the LUM Good Samaritan Fund (formerly known as the Centralized Emergency Fund). During “Row-a-thon” the co-ed team members row a marathon of 26 miles in three hours on indoor rowing machines. Stop by on Saturday and check it out.
John Reidy, the Purdue Crew Club president, asks that “if you are financially able, please Pull with Us to support this effort…and show your support for your Purdue Crew Boilermakers as they pull for our community’s less fortunate.”
Purdue Row-a-Thon 2013 took place on
- Saturday, January 19th
- from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the
Tippecanoe Mall, Lafayette (near Macy’s).
You still may support Row-a-Thon. Please make checks payable to Purdue Crew Club and mail your checks to Purdue Crew, 355 N. Martin Jischke Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47907. (Please note: the funds raised from Row-a-thon will be split 50/50 between LUM and Purdue Crew Team.)
