Winter Warming Station Offered Help & Hope

The winter of 2025–2026 in Lafayette, Indiana, brought shifting conditions—from a mild start to a bitter cold stretch and one of the snowiest late seasons in years. Through it all, the LUM Winter Warming Station remained a steady source of care and compassion. Open nightly from November 15, it provided a safe, warm place to sleep, along with water and a meal. In total, 396 individual guests found refuge at the Winter Warming Station for a total of 7,042 bed-nights throughout the winter.

With 50 sleeping mats available—along with 48 beds in the LUM Emergency Shelter—no one was turned away during the coldest nights. This vital effort was made possible by dedicated staff, volunteers, and generous community partners. Collectively, this lifesaving work is a true and lasting lifeline of help and hope.
