Puppies on the Porch


Puppies on the Porch is a fundraiser for Lafayette Urban Ministries. Sigma Chi & Delta Gamma are inviting the campus and community to visit their porch and hang out with lots of adorable and huggable puppies — for only $5.

Puppies on the Porch details are as follows:

  • Date: Saturday, February 28
  • Time: 1:00—5:00 p.m. EST
  • Place: Sigma Chi chapter house, 202 Littleton Street, West Lafayette
  • Cost: $5 per person—all proceeds going to LUM—available online
  • Parking available

Ray Ewry Parkway – Naming Ceremony

1906-olympian-ralph-ewry-photo-1LUM encourages you to attend the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Naming Ceremony for the new US 231 in honor of the legendary US Olympian, Lafayette native and Purdue alumnus, Ray Ewry. US 231 along the Purdue West Lafayette campus between Martin Jischke Drive and Lindberg Road will officially be known as the Raymond Clarence Ewry Memorial Parkway.

The details of the INDOT Naming Ceremony are as follows:

  • Date: THIS Friday, August 29
  • Time: 1:30 p.m.
  • Place: RPAC Theatre, Lafayette Jefferson High School
  • Parking: park in the East Lot and enter through the South Portico

Ray Ewry is special to LUM and is the namesake of the LUM Youth Center in downtown Lafayette. As friends of LUM, we’d love to see you there. Tom Carson is expected to be in attendance to represent the family of Ray Ewry.

Meet the LUM Interns — Evan Guse

Evan Guse is a communications major with a concentration in human relations and minors in religious studies and Jewish studies in the Brian Lamb School of Communications at Purdue University (West Lafayette). He is from Columbus, Indiana and a member of Fairway Cooperative. At Fairway Cooperative, Evan has held many leadership roles. As a LUM Intern, he is assisting in all aspects of social media and marketing.

After graduation in August 2013 with a BA in communications, Evan will attend Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, Kentucky) pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. His dream job is to be the teaching pastor of a thriving church and “lead a congregation made up of people who are hungry to know God at a deeper level and are eager to share that love with others.” Evan is also going to be married in May 2013.
