Elmwood Church of Christ – Mission Stay 2018

As a part of their 2018 “Mission Stay,” the Youth Group at Elmwood Church of Christ, Lafayette, engaged with the students enrolled in the LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program.

Led by Phil Travis, Elmwood’s Youth and Family Minister, 11 high school and middle school students spent three days with the LUM students — doing a science project, learning music, making arts & crafts and participating in reading pods. 5th Quarter Program—Enhanced Learning

The 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program is LUM’s all-day experience with enhanced learning, education and recreational activities.

The LUM 5th Quarter students recently participated in two special programs — a trip to Lafayette Fire Station #3 and another to Columbian Park with the Youth Group from the Elmwood Church of Christ, Lafayette, led by Phil Travis.

Above is a picture of our students with Sgt. Trent Richter and Firefighter Landon McDaniel, Lafayette Fire Department. Below is a picture of the Youth Group from Elmwood Church of Christ.

Youth Groups — Service Day at LUM

heartland

Last Thursday, the Heartland Community Church Youth Group (FYSH) and Battle Ground United Methodist Church Youth Group (Larger than Life) assisted in cleaning the LUM emergency shelter and office building as well as gardening and outdoor chores. One group worked with the 5th Quarter students to harvest their garden—and all of the fresh produce was donated to the St. John’s/LUM Food Pantry. To view more PHOTOs, click HERE.

This was part of their 4th annual Mission Lafayette service week, where a group of middle and high school students work together to serve the local community. Their goal is to give these young adults an opportunity to grow their faith through service work in their home town.

LUM is very thankful for the help from these two hard-working youth groups. LUM relies on groups like these to get most of our outside work done.

If your group is interested in helping out with yard-work or mowing the lawns, please email or call us (lum@lumserve.org | 765-423-2691).
