Each night of the year, a simple meal is provided at the LUM Emergency Shelter. Planning and preparing a meal is a great activity for families, church groups, campus organizations and civic groups. You may stay and serve the meal or drop it off in advance. No contact drop off is an option as well. Monthly meals are greatly appreciated.

MEALS NEEDED on the following days: June 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, 17, 18, 23, 26, 29, 30. To SIGN UP, click each month you’d like to prepare & serve meals to our shelter guests: May | June | July | August | September | October | November | December.

No Experience Necessary – Start in 2021

Make a difference in your community by becoming a LUM tax volunteer. Volunteers are needed from mid-January through April 2021 for the LUM Tax Assistance Program. No experience is necessary — and training is provided. You may even qualify for continuing education credits.

As a LUM tax assistance volunteer, you’ll join a program that’s helped millions of people file tax returns at no charge for more than 40 years. There are a number of volunteer roles available — click HERE to see descriptions. Due to COVID-19 protocols, more volunteers are needed. Some require accounting experience (tax preparer) but some do not (check in/greeter).

The LUM Emergency Shelter needs Overnight Shelter Volunteers 365 nights a year from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight. Duties include checking in guests, serving dinner, distributing toiletries and maintaining a welcoming, safe & clean environment. Must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers must attend a Shelter Training Session, offered every Monday at 6:30 p.m.
