Federated Church Invests in the Unhoused
$25,000 Gift for LUM Homeless Services & Shelter
Lafayette Urban Ministry is deeply grateful to Federated Church for their generous gift of $25,000 in support of LUM Homeless Services including the Emergency Shelter. This remarkable donation was presented by Jim Rawlings, representing the Federated Church Endowment Board, to Steve Mogensen, LUM Donor Engagement director (pictured L to R).
The congregation at Federated Church was moved to action after learning about the dramatic increase in demand for shelter beds at LUM over the past several months. With compassion and urgency, they stepped forward—wanting to not only support operating costs and critical facility improvements, but also to inspire others to give. Jim Rawlings expressed hope that this gift would inspire others in the community to step forward and give—helping ensure that all of our neighbors have access to a clean, safe place to sleep, find community, and be nourished.
This gift is just one example of how Federated Church impacts the Greater Lafayette community through LUM programs throughout the year—from food assistance to Jubilee Christmas and beyond. But this gift, in particular, will have a lasting and life-saving impact for individuals facing homelessness. Thank you, Federated Church, for your faith in action and unwavering commitment to our most vulnerable neighbors.
If you’re inspired by Federated Church and want to join them in supporting the LUM Emergency Shelter, please consider giving online or reaching out to Steve Mogensen directly at smogensen@lumserve.org.
