Local 2nd Graders Bring Warmth & Kindness
Second graders at Cole Elementary School recently decorated and packed bagged meals for LUM Homeless Services. The meals will support the LUM Winter Warming Station, which operates from November 15 (now) through April 15 to provide a safe, warm space for unhoused individuals during the coldest months of the year. Each meal included a sandwich, snacks, fruit, a drink, and utensils, along with hand-drawn, uplifting messages from the students.
This activity is the first of several community service projects, led by Tippecanoe School Corporation, designed to celebrate the City of Lafayette’s bicentennial by completing 200 hours of service. With all students and staff involved at Cole, this project contributed 30 hours toward that goal. Community service is a meaningful part of the student experience, fostering empathy, leadership, and teamwork skills while teaching the value of helping others.
Thank you to the Cole Elementary second graders, teachers, parents & staff for their kindness and generosity in helping make a difference in our community!
