LUM Volunteer of the Month – Catherine Robinson
LUM Volunteer of the Month – September 2024
This September, LUM is proud to recognize Catherine Robinson as LUM Volunteer of the Month. As an Afternoon Receptionist, Catherine has been volunteering with LUM for just a few months, but her kindness, warmth, and dedication have already made a lasting impact at LUM.
Catherine was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and currently lives in West Lafayette, Indiana. She brings a wealth of experience from her background in vocational and medical fields, including a Medical Assisting Associate Degree from Rasmussen University. She has volunteered at Fairview Hospital and worked with organizations like Safer Foundation and P.A.C.E. Institution, supporting ex-offenders. Family is central to Catherine’s life—she was married for 20 years and is a proud mother of four, with 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Growing up in a family of ten, she fondly recalls the strong values her parents instilled in her.
Outside of LUM, Catherine enjoys pastel chalk art, watercolor painting, and genealogy research. Her faith is a source of strength, as she is guided by scripture like 2 Timothy 1:7:
For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
When asked about her motivation for volunteering, Catherine shared,
There is a great need in the community, and LUM is a wonderful ministry that assists individuals in need. It’s rewarding to help others, no matter their circumstances. We are here to help one another.
LUM is incredibly grateful for Catherine’s dedication and looks forward to her continued positive influence. Thank you, Catherine!
