Meet Donna – LUM Spring Intern
Donna L. Casey grew up and lives in Lafayette, IN, with her husband, Brett. She has two grown daughters, three step children, and two grandchildren. Donna is working on her associates degree in Human Services & Social Work at Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette. She also completed the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing firefighter EMT program with the Wea Fire Department. After graduation, Donna plans on dedicating her career to addressing issues related to domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault.
This spring, Donna is an intern with LUM Homeless Services including the Emergency Shelter. When reflecting on her internship experience so far, Donna stated that,
I enjoy the people, the staff and clients. The shelter guests are so grateful for what we do for them that makes my heart happy. I am glad that LUM has the resources to help the people in this county.
In her free time, Donna enjoys spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren), riding motorcylces with her husband and going out on her boat with her friend group. She also love animals. Donna’s family currently includes three dogs, two cats, two goats, 30 chickens, and five ducks.
LUM is fortunate to have someone with Donna’s, passion, experience, and work ethic working as an intern this semester.
