Impact So Far in 2022 – 248 Consultations
World Refugee Day, a day designated by the United Nations to celebrate and honor refugees around the world, was celebrated this past Monday. This week it is important to recognize the impact that the LUM Immigration Clinic is having on our community, including with Ukrainian and Afghan refugees in Temporary Protected Status. So far in 2022, the LUM Immigration Clinic has met and consulted with more than 248 individuals. Among these have been nine Ukrainian citizens and ten Afghan citizens.
Did You Know? Under United States law, a refugee is someone who is located outside of the United States, is of special humanitarian concern to the United States, is not firmly resettled in another country, is admissible to the United States, and demonstrates that they were persecuted or fear persecution due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
