Meet the LUM Staff
The Staff of Lafayette Urban Ministry
Lafayette Urban Ministry depends on volunteers and donations from individuals like you to be successful. But behind the scenes of every great nonprofit is a small but dedicated team of staff who provide the day-to-day management and leadership to carry out the organization’s mission. LUM is fortunate to have an experienced, hard working team who believe strongly in the LUM mission while engaging and training volunteers.
It is with pride that we introduce you to our current LUM staff.
Joe Micon is the Executive Director.
He started with LUM in 1990. Joe grew up in Niagara Falls, NY; graduated from LaSalle Senior High School; and currently lives in West Lafayette. Joe’s education includes:
- Purdue University, BA, Applied Sociology
- Indiana University, Master of Social Work, concentration in the Administration of Not-for-Profit Organizations
With LUM, Joe has also served as Program Director for LUM Camp, Jubilee Christmas, Emergency Shelter, Social Justice Ministries, and Repairs on Wheels.
Susan Brouillette is the Program Director, Immigration Clinic & Campaign for Hoosier Families.
She started with LUM in 2013. Susan grew up in Fowler; graduated from Benton Central High School in Oxford; and currently lives in Lafayette. Susan’s education includes:
- Hanover College, BA, Communication and Political Science
- Christian Theological Seminary, Masters in Divinity; Clinical Pastoral Education; Clown School
Rev. Clarinda Crawford is the Program Director, Good Samaritan Program & ID Clinic.
She started with LUM in 2016. Clarinda grew up in Attica; graduated from Attica High School; and currently lives in Lafayette. Clarinda’s education includes:
- DePauw University, BA, Political Science & Communications
- Christian Theological Seminary, Master of Divinity, Theology & Pastoral Care/Counseling
- Indiana University, MPA, Nonprofit Management & Public Management, anticipated graduation in 2017
Clarinda is also ordained and the pastor at Congress Street United Methodist Church, Lafayette. With LUM, She has served on the Board of Directors & Executive Council.
Rev. Cindy Haley is the Program Director, After School Program & 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program.
She started with LUM in 2007. Cindy grew up in Muncie; graduated from Burris Laboratory School; and currently lives in Fowler. Cindy’s education includes:
- Scarritt College for Christian Workers, BA, Behavioral Science
- Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Master of Divinity
- Ordained clergy person United Methodist Church
- Certified Teacher, STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) classes; Trained & re-certified Director/Teacher by FSSA (State of Indiana) to be in a Registered Ministry under the Child Care Development Fund; Completed Peer/Union Counselor Training Program; Licensed Insurance Agent
With LUM, Cindy has also served as Assistant Director of LUM Camp.
Linda Hicks is the Office Manager; and Assistant Director, LUM Camp.
She started with LUM in 2005. Linda grew up in West Lafayette; graduated from Harrison High School; and currently lives in West Lafayette. Linda’s education includes:
- Purdue University, BA, Early Childhood Education
Pablo Malavenda is the Executive Assistant for Social Media; Webmaster; and Program Director, LUM Follies, Hunger Hike & Jubilee Christmas.
He started with LUM in 2012. Pablo grew up in Meriden, CT; graduated from Platt High School; and currently lives in West Lafayette. Pablo’s education includes:
- University of Connecticut, BA, Industrial Psychology
- UConn, MA, Higher Education Administration, focus in Counseling
Monique Parent is the Custodian.
She started with LUM this summer. Monique grew up in West Lafayette; graduated from Central Catholic Senior High School in Lafayette; and currently lives in West Lafayette. Monique’s education includes:
- University of Indianapolis, Professional Writing, anticipated graduation—December 2016
Tricia Sembroski is the Business Manager.
She started with LUM in 2014. Tricia grew up in Allison Park, PA; graduated from Hampton High School; and currently lives in West Lafayette. Tricia’s education includes:
- Carlow University (Pittsburgh, PA), BA, Psychology, minors and certification in Elementary and Special Education
- Midwest Montessori Training, Primary & Elementary Education
- Purdue University, MSEd, Educational Leadership
With LUM, Tricia has also served as tax preparation volunteer and LUM Board of Directors’ treasurer.
Rob Shook is the Director of Maintenance.
He started with LUM in 2016. Rob grew up in West Lafayette; graduated from Harrison High School; and currently lives in West Lafayette. Rob’s education includes:
- Purdue, BS, Organizational Leadership and Supervision
Gina Williams is the Program Director, Emergency Shelter.
She started with LUM in 2015. Gina grew up in Indianapolis; graduated from Cascade High School, Clayton, IN; and currently lives in Lafayette. Gina’s education includes:
- Purdue University (IUPUI), BS, Psychology
- Indiana University School of Social Work, MSW, in progress
