Emergency Shelter Volunteers - January 2024
Overnight Shelter Volunteers
Before signing up for an overnight volunteer shift you MUST attend training. Overnight volunteers must be at least 18 years old and attend one Shelter Training Session which are offered every Monday night at the LUM Ray Ewry Youth Center (525 N. 4th Street, Lafayette). Duties: Assist the coordinator in checking-in guests & serving meals, stay on site for your assigned shift (8:00 p.m. to Midnight; or 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.). Must be able to maintain confidentiality and interact with a variety of people.
Individuals using this to satisfy their "court ordered" community service hours -- please sign up for BOTH shifts each night you work (8 p.m. to midnight AND midnight to 7 a.m.).
Other may sign up for one shift (8 p.m. to midnight) or both shifts. Please do not sign up for only the midnight shift.
