Recently, the Lafayette Urban Ministry staff members participated in a daylong “retreat” in the banquet room at Mike Aulby’s Arrowhead Bowl.

This year’s retreat focused on improving the “teamwork, communication, and productivity” for the group by using the DiSC personal assessment toolVickie Maris, certified trainer & authorized partner with Everything DiSC®, led the retreat. It was a fun & powerful day — everyone was open-minded, eager to learn and excited about the topic. DiSC gave the LUM staff members a common language to better understand themselves and those with whom they regularly interact at LUM. The retreat has given LUM staff the knowledge needed to increase understanding and improve future working relationships. The LUM board president, vice president and treasurer also participated.

The retreat concluded with a visit to the bowling alleys for some spirited recreation. Everyone is now refreshed and motivated to work as a team to improve their work with clients, guests, volunteers, community partners, children, students, parents & families.
