Joe Micon Engages St. Tom’s ESTEEM Students

Earlier in November, Joe Micon, LUM executive director, was invited to engage the students enrolled in St. Thomas Aquinas Center’s Boiler ESTEEM program.

Micon focused on the Catholic Social Doctrine with a focus on social justice, being agents of change, service and the Corporal Works of Mercy.

ESTEEM is a nationwide program to develop the leadership skills of young Catholics.

Outreach is an important part of the mission of LUM; and members of the LUM professional staff are available to speak to church, civic, and educational groups on a variety of topics. To make arrangements for a presentation, call or email LUM (765-423-2691 | lum@lumserve.org).

The student leaders from the Thomas Aquinas Center’s Boiler ESTEEM program installed new flooring in part of the LUM Emergency Shelter. The students designed, purchased and fully installed the new floor.

ESTEEM is a nationwide program to develop the leadership skills of young Catholics —
and part of their experience includes a major service project. The Boiler ESTEEM students chose LUM for their project. Earlier this year, they prepared and served a meal to the guests in the LUM Emergency Shelter.

LUM is grateful to St. Tom’s and the Boiler ESTEEM program for their continued support. If you or your group wants to volunteer at the LUM Emergency Shelter, click HERE.

Boiler ESTEEM with LUM Students & Parents

Boiler ESTEEM, which is a collegiate leadership organization at St. Thomas Aquinas Center (West Lafayette), presented a program last week for the LUM After School Program students and their parents. The gathering  was designed to emphasize the importance of family time especially “family meal time.”

The Boiler ESTEEM students planned an evening of educational and fun games while teaching the students about the history and story of St. Patrick. The evening began with a scrumptious meal and a discussion about how to make meal time meaningful for your whole family.

Thanks to the Boiler ESTEEM student leaders for creating such a powerful, fun and memorable event for the LUM After School Program families. More photos from the event may be viewed HERE.
