Tammy Siemers Sparks Students to Serve
Purdue Students Serve Community with Purpose

Kindness and generosity have long shaped Tammy Siemers’ commitment to service. Influenced by a family that shared what they had with others, she developed a lifelong passion for helping those in need.
“I was taught the importance of helping others and making sure they know someone cares,” said Tammy, associate director of graduate programs in Purdue’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
Recently, Tammy guided students in the Biomedical Engineering Professional Master’s Program in preparing meals for the LUM Winter Warming Station, offering them a meaningful, hands-on opportunity to experience the impact of service.
In recognition of her longstanding volunteer efforts—including her involvement with LUM Jubilee Christmas—Tammy was named the 2025 recipient of Purdue’s Community Spirit Award, which honors staff who demonstrate exceptional commitment to service and inspire others to give back.
Congratulations, Tammy. If you or your group are inspired by her example, consider volunteering with Lafayette Urban Ministry—because even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
