LUM Introduces New Mission Statement

A Renewed Compass for Compassion & Service

Lafayette Urban Ministry is excited to share its newly adopted Mission Statement:

Lafayette Urban Ministry is a lifeline for our neighbors—meeting basic human needs, offering financial assistance, and inspiring hope.

In late 2024, the LUM Board of Directors approved a new Strategic Plan, with one of the first priorities being to refresh the mission statement. The process included gathering input from the community, hosting listening sessions, and bringing the leadership team together for a day-long retreat. After thoughtful discussion and collaboration, the LUM Board of Directors unanimously approved the new Mission Statement.

This updated Mission reflects LUM’s continued commitment to serving neighbors in need while also looking boldly toward the future. It will guide decision-making like a compass, infuse new energy into the work, and sharpen the focus as LUM lives out its calling to support working families, at-risk children, and unhoused individuals in Greater Lafayette.
