Honoring the Heart of the LUM Food Pantry
Celebrating the Dedication of the LUM Volunteers
The LUM recently held a Volunteer Appreciation Lunch to mark one year since expanding the LUM Protein Food Pantry to include Monday afternoons. Volunteers from both Monday and Thursday teams gathered to honor their steadfast dedication and vital contributions to the pantry’s success.
What began as a modest addition has become a foundational part of the LUM food distribution efforts. Opening on Mondays—when other providers are closed—has allowed the pantry to better meet the increasing needs of the community. Thanks to the commitment and hard work of all volunteers, the pantry has remained fully stocked despite rising demand. The partnership between Monday and Thursday volunteers demonstrates the power of shared purpose. Together, they have created a unified operation with extended hours, shared resources, and a strong focus on treating every guest with dignity.
During the event, special recognition was given to Nina Morgan and Kirk Germond for their leadership. Nina’s vision ensured continuity during challenging transitions, and Kirk’s guidance was key to the Monday team’s launch and growth. Lunch was generously provided by an anonymous donor. The event was hosted at St. John’s Episcopal Church, whose ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
The LUM is grateful to the volunteers whose passion and dedication bring life and warmth to the LUM Protein Food Pantry. Those inspired to help are encouraged to volunteer or donate to the LUM Protein Food Pantry.
