Bells will Ring for Jubilee Christmas 2020

This Saturday, you will hear BELLS RINGING from churches across the county in celebration of LUM Jubilee Christmas. When you hear them ringing you will know that close to 1,500 local children have just been given the gift of CHRISTMAS.

Thirty local churches will host 25 separate events serving 525 local families impacting close to 1,500 local children. This year due to COVID-19, most Jubilee Christmas sites are curbside events, following strict protocols approved by the Tippecanoe County Health Department.

Jubilee Christmas

Lafayette, IN — Tomorrow (Saturday, December 12), you will hear BELLS RINGING from churches all around the county in celebration of the 40th annual Jubilee Christmas sponsored by Lafayette Urban Ministry. When you hear the bells ringing you will know that close to 1,500 local children have just been given the gift of CHRISTMAS. See the Bell Ringing details below.

Thirty local churches will host 25 separate events serving 525 local families impacting close to 1,500 local childrenJubilee Christmas is designed to let mom and dad be the heroes. Jubilee Christmas strengthens families by supporting the important role of parents at Christmas time. This year due to COVID-19, all Jubilee Christmas sites are either curbside or walkthrough events, following strict protocols approved by the Tippecanoe County Health Department. All gifts will be pre-packaged and ready for pick up at a pre-assigned time. Each family also receives a holiday ham, food gift card, gift certificate for dinner at Lafayette Brewing Company, and homemade Christmas cookies.

The LUM Jubilee Christmas program has a real benefit to our local retail economy. All the gifts and food for Jubilee Christmas are purchased locally; and the gift cards and food cards will be spent locally. Each year as a result of this program, LUM staff see fewer requests for emergency rent and utility assistance in January and February. More than $250,000 worth of toys, clothes and food will be distributed; and Jubilee Christmas takes more than 1,200 individual volunteers to make it a success, year after year. Donations are still welcome at lumserve.org/donate.

Please visit Jubilee Christmas sites for photo and interview opportunities with LUM staff, pastors, volunteers and family guests. The list of host sites and times are below.
