Purdue Honors Former LUM Board President



Former president of the LUM Board of Directors and member of University Church, Lee Ann DeReus, PhD, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Purdue College of Health & Human Sciences at a banquet last Friday. This award honors alumni with demonstrated leadership ability in the community through the development of or significant contributions to private or public programs that improve or enhance the quality of life for individuals, families, and/or communities.

Dr. DeReus earned a Master’s and PhD from Purdue University in Human Development & Family Studies. She is currently the co-founder & chair of the board for Panzi Foundation USA and associate professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Pennsylvania State University – Altoona.

Dr. DeReus served on the LUM Board of Directors as a representative of University Church and was elected president in 1992. She was also helped lead the search committee that hired the current LUM executive director, Joe Micon. Dr. DeReus & Joe Micon are pictured above.
