LUM Celebrates Volunteers and Their Impact
Leadership Thanks Volunteers Service Commitment
On April 29, LUM hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Reception in recognition of National Volunteer Appreciation Month, celebrating those whose time and dedication sustain the LUM Mission year-round.
Volunteers support LUM food programs, youth initiatives, homeless services, events, and a wide range of community assistance efforts. In 2025, 1,438 individuals volunteered 5,121 shifts and contributed more than 27,037 hours of service. According to Independent Sector, these hours have a total value of more than $881,000.
All volunteers were recognized for their essential contributions. The reception included refreshments and remarks highlighting the critical role volunteers play in advancing the LUM Mission. Special acknowledgment was given to Superstar Volunteers, each of whom contributed hundreds of hours, reflecting an exceptional level of sustained commitment to the LUM community. Remarks of gratitude were shared by Terri Anderson, volunteer coordinator (pictured above), and Wes Tillett, executive director (pictured below), who personally thanked those in attendance.
