Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) – SMS Terms of Service

Your use of text messaging services (“SMS Services”) provided by Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) (“LUM,” “we,” or “us”) through the Constant Contact platform is subject to these SMS Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy. By opting in to receive text messages, you agree to these Terms.

1. SMS Services Description

LUM may send both informational and occasional promotional text messages, including:

  • Program updates and reminders
  • Notifications about services or events
  • Occasional announcements or opportunities to engage

Message frequency will vary. Messages may be sent using automated technology.

LUM does not charge for sending messages; however, message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier.

We do not sell or share your mobile number or opt-in consent with third parties, except as necessary to deliver SMS services through trusted providers.

2. Eligibility

To receive SMS messages, you must:

  • Be a resident of the United States
  • Be at least 18 years of age

3. Opt-In Consent

By providing your mobile number, you are voluntarily opting in to receive text messages from LUM, even if your number is listed on a state or federal “Do Not Call” registry.

You confirm that:

  • The number you provide is valid
  • You are the account holder or authorized user

If your number changes, please notify us at enews@lumserve.org.

Participation in SMS messaging is voluntary and not required to receive services from LUM.

4. Opt-Out & Support

You may opt out at any time by replying:
STOP, QUIT, CANCEL, OPT-OUT, or UNSUBSCRIBE

After opting out:

  • You may receive a final confirmation message
  • Processing may take a short time

To rejoin, you may opt in again as you did initially.

For help, reply HELP to any message.

5. Service Limitations

SMS services may not be available:

  • In all areas
  • At all times
  • On all mobile carriers

LUM is not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. Disclaimer of Liability

SMS services are provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, LUM is not liable for:

  • Delayed or failed message delivery
  • Any damages arising from use of SMS services

7. Changes to Terms

LUM may update these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted on our website. Continued use of SMS services indicates acceptance of any changes.
