Winter Warming Station

About

The LUM Winter Warming Station complements the services of the LUM Emergency Shelter. The Winter Warming Station is located in the LUM Ray Ewry Center (525 N 4th Street, Lafayette) and is open from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. from November 15 to April 15 (subject to change).

It is used by individuals needing a place in the evening to “warm up.” All are welcome, including those who are not eligible to stay at the LUM Emergency Shelter.

It offers an option to be in a safe, secure indoor Warming Station. It also gives individuals an opportunity to learn about other services offered by LUM or other local agencies for which they may be eligible.

Other contingencies plans are in place during stormy weather or if temperatures get dangerously low.

Volunteers are needed from Nov. 15 – April 15. The Winter Warming Station relies on volunteers. Some volunteers stay overnight, while other prepare To-Go Meals. Some groups pitch in as clean-up work crews from time to time. Learn MORE.
