Last week, Westminster Village in West Lafayette sponsored the Village Soup Day in support of LUM programs. The Westminster Village staff sold more than 300 meals featuring their famous menu of hot broccoli cheddar soup, chili, maple vinaigrette salad, house-made rolls, and gourmet choc-chip cookies.
The money raised from this event will have an immediate positive impact on local families in need, children, and our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Thank you, Westminster Village staff for your support of LUM!
This past week, there were two unique programs that supported Lafayette Urban Ministry. They were the Purdue AIChE’s Pie a Professor (pictured left) and Village Soup Day sponsored by Westminster Village (pictured right).
Purdue student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers sponsored a Pie a Professor event, and it was a big success. Purdue students were excited to smash a pie in the face of their favorite professors and fellow students. Maddie Barondeau, AIChE officer, shared that, “We had a lot of fun, and I’m glad we could support the Lafayette community!” Maddie presented a check for $230 to Wes Tillett, the LUM executive director. Thank you, Purdue AIChE members for thinking of LUM!
The staff at Westminster Village (West Lafayette) hosted Village Soup Day. This drive-through event offers homemade soup and Chef Rob’s famous rolls. This year they sold 254 servings and raised $3,000 ($600 more than last year). Benjamin Blankenship, Westminster Village executive director, presented the check to Wes Tillett. Thank you, Westminster Village staff for your support of LUM!
The drive-thru will be held on THIS Tuesday, November 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Westminster Village, 2741 North Salisbury Street, West Lafayette. They’re offering a safe, convenient drive-thru pick-up at the main entrance. They can’t wait to see you there as YOU support LUM.
This year, LUM was the selected as the lucky recipient of the annual Christmas Gift from Westminster Village. Westminster Village recently hosted a drive-through “Village Soup Day,” where the community was invited to purchase their famous chili, baked potato soup, bread and cookies. All of the proceeds were designated to benefit LUM plus each participant donated items for the LUM Protein Food Pantry. It was a successful event! More than 100 carloads of hungry people purchased 270 meals and donated a truckload of food for the food pantry (pictured above).
The Westminster Village team has also invited Wes Tillett, LUM executive director, to participate in the virtual “Village Chat,” where he will share the good work of LUM and also accept the Christmas Gift donation from LUM legend & Westminster Village resident, the Rev. Don Nead. Lastly, several of the members of the Westminster Village staff will be volunteering with LUM Jubilee Christmas this year.
LUM is thankful to the residents & staff of Westminster Village for their support this year through the annual Christmas Gift. Stay tuned for more news in December from the Village Chat program and check presentation. To view more photos, click HERE.
