Purdue Crew Row-A-Thon Raises $13,150

Purdue Crew donates $13,150 to LUM

At their end of the year banquet, the Purdue Crew Team presented Lafayette Urban Ministry with a check for $13,150 for the LUM Good Samaritan Fund – — a 35% increase over last year’s amount. This is the single largest gift to the LUM Good Samaritan Program each year.

The monies were raised by the Purdue Crew Team members through the eighth annual Purdue Row-a-Thon event which took place on Saturday, February 4 at the Tippecanoe Mall.

The “big” check was presented to Joe Micon, Lafayette Urban Ministry Executive Director, by David Anderle, Purdue Crew Club president and Dave Kucik, Purdue Crew Team Head Coach (pictured above). “Shell” Dedicated to Former Board Member

20160424_120459 (1280x717)

The Purdue Crew Team Alumni recently donated two new shells to the team and dedicated one to their longtime head coach, Dave Kucik, and the second to his wife, Lonni. Joe Micon, LUM executive director, was in attendance for the dedication of the second shell named for Lonni Kucik. Lonni, a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, West Lafayette (a LUM member church), served on the LUM Board of Directors and Executive Council.

Purdue Crew Team continues to be a very generous supporter of LUM, in particular the LUM Good Samaritan Fund and Hunger Hike. This past February, the crew team donated $8,542 to the LUM Good Samaritan Fund from their Row-A-Thon fundraising event.

Pictured above is the dedication ceremony which includes the “christening” of the shell with water directly from the Wabash River, the home of the Purdue Crew Team. Join us in congratulating Lonni & Dave on this honor; and once again thanking the Purdue Crew Team for their continued support of LUM.
