Tax Assistance Program – Empowering Families, Fueling Our Community

This year, the LUM Tax Assistance Program experienced remarkable growth, serving 30% more clients than the previous year. As a result, significantly more tax returns were filed, more refunds were claimed, and—most importantly—every individual who sought help received it. The impact of this achievement is profound, both for the individuals served and for the broader community.

  • Total Returns Filed: 881
  • Total Refund Amount: $895,142
  • Total Earned Income Credit Claimed: $292,502
  • Median Adjusted Gross Income: $22,509

The LUM Tax Assistance Program provides free tax preparation services to our neighbors—ensuring that families and individuals with limited incomes receive the full refunds and credits to which they are entitled. This program not only supports household financial stability, but also serves as a catalyst for the local economy. A substantial portion of the $895,142 in tax refunds will likely be spent locally, contributing to the economic health and vitality of Greater Lafayette.
