Alert: Urge US House – Reject the Reconciliation Bill
Prevent Harm to Indiana Families & Children

The US House is expected to vote this week on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which proposes the following:
- $290 billion in cuts to SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, shifting 5% of benefit costs and 75% of administrative expenses to states by 2028
- Increases the Child Tax Credit to $2,500, but structural changes may exclude up to 17 million low-income children nationwide due to existing income thresholds and eligibility requirements
In Indiana, more than 588,000 residents could face reduced benefits.
Lafayette Urban Ministry urges you to contact your representative immediately to express your opposition to this legislation and concerns about any cuts to SNAP and the exclusion of low-income families from the expanded Child Tax Credit.
