LUM Volunteer of the Month – Margaret
LUM Volunteer of the Month – Margaret H. Prokopy
Lafayette Urban Ministry is delighted to honor Margaret H. Prokopy as the Volunteer of the Month for August. Margaret, a junior studying biomedical engineering at Purdue University, has made a significant impact through her recent volunteer work with the LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program.
Margaret, who graduated from West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School in 2022, has been an enthusiastic and dedicated LUM volunteer this summer. In addition to volunteering with LUM this summer, she has previously volunteered with the LUM Turkey Trot 5K Run and LUM Tax Assistance Program.
“LUM is a great resource for the community,” Margaret shared. “The staff and students at the Summer Learning Program are all awesome. I’ve seen how hard the staff work every day, and I hope I was able to help at least a little bit.”
Margaret’s enthusiasm for volunteering has been evident throughout the summer.
“It’s fun and rewarding to volunteer with LUM. The staff and volunteers are friendly and engaged, and the children are really so much fun. I’m glad to have been with them all this summer, and I hope classes will allow me to volunteer some more during the semester.” She added, “I’m thankful to have had this opportunity, and I’d really like to thank the staff for helping me learn the ropes.”
In addition to her volunteer work, Margaret enjoys playing tennis with friends, catching up on shows, reading about history, and trying new restaurants.
Join us in congratulating Margaret for being selected the LUM Volunteer of the Month for August and thanking for her dedication and positive spirit. Her contributions have made a meaningful difference in our community, and we look forward to seeing her continue to grow and thrive with LUM.
